The question is not whether Ukraine will join NATO, but when: Radev

President Rumen Radev surprisingly came out in support of Ukraine's NATO membership, saying it is only a matter of time. He was speaking in Athens at the opening of the 28th annual government roundtable organized by The Economist magazine. The head of state is on a working visit to Greece, where the economic forum is traditionally held.

"The question is not whether Ukraine will join NATO, but when this will happen. The answer to this question will depend on developments on the battlefield and the ability to achieve sustainable peace," Radev was quoted as saying by the Bulgarian Telegraphic Agency.

At the same time, he reiterated his traditional thesis that the approach to Russia's war against Ukraine should be reassessed and "we should return to diplomacy and negotiations - the sooner the better." He added: "This war has already become a war of attrition, a global economic clash, generating enormous human suffering and material damage."

Alexandroupolis gas terminal launch may be delayed until the end of the year

A technical defect is delaying the launch of the Burgas-Alexandroupolis liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal. Bulgaria is a co-shareholder in the terminal project, with Bulgartransgaz owning 20% of the share capital of the project company Gaztrade, whose management Malinov met in Greece. By July 15, a plan will be made with a solution to the defect, and the goal is to have the terminal operational by the end of the year, the Ministry added.

European Commission approves gov't plan to revive Bulgarian Posts

The European Commission has announced that it has approved the Bulgarian government's plans to help restructure the Bulgarian Posts through investing 50 million levs, authorizing state aid to the firm in line with European requirements.

Bulgarian Posts is investing 52.49 million levs of its own capital in the modernisation, which aims to reduce its dependence on declining postal services.
